Jubilee Tree Planting
To
Commemorate the Jubilee of King George V
on May 6th 1935

The location is the green triangle adjacent to Westley's Mill
Three trees were to be planted with an oak to follow (after the heap
of road-stone had been removed and the triangle henceforth never to
serve as a NCC road repair storage area.

This picture shows Mr. W. Woolacott planting the crab tree for the
scouts.
There followed a mountain ash tree for the Guides and another for a
cause that has misted over with time. All three were abandoned years
later
when it became clear that the oak for the Parish would outgrow and
smother them.

The crab apple tree for the Scouts - it did not survive.
